Ipad App: Didakto
Didakto is an educational game, perfect for elementary school children. This app focuses on four areas of learning – Math, Language, Logic & Geography. Within those areas are different skills that are then simplified. In an example given by The Iphone Mum ..."in Logic you would have Objects & Sizes and within that you could choose to work on learning about biggest objects or smallest ones."
Once a topic is selected, it’s time to play the game. The user selects a photo from the iPad or use a random photo generated by the app. This photo is then broken up into different squares. The amount of squares is up to the user but this number will determine the number of questions the user is given. The squares then turn into answers. Below these squares is another set of squares, with the same number, only these are the questions. The task is for the user to look at the questions and then drags over the square with the answer on it - matching. When they’ve filled in all of the squares they can check their work. If everything is correct the squares will flip over revealing the original photo. Basically your child is moving pieces of the picture from one spot to another, recreating it by answering questions. A puzzle effect.
Didakto is easy to use... even for lay adults (like me). It offers varying skill levels, and there is no timer on this game, your child can take things at their own pace. This is excellent for Processing Disorders. Being able to add in your own photos personalises this App too! I think offering the App in an International format is great and I will certainly be acquiring this one for my kids. Great value.

Didakto is a fun and educational game for school age kids (4-12). The goal of the game is to answer questions from different subjects and levels by dragging the questions to the correct answers. A photo puzzle is used to show if the answers are correct. The game has a simple user interface and plays like a board game. No time pressure, no high scores. Children can play and learn at their own pace and correct themselves.
The player can select from dozens of available questions from subjects such as Math, language and geography. "The reactions of children who play Didakto are very enthusiastic. Especially because their own pictures can be used in the game" says Marco Henkes, founder of Synendo. "Playful learning remains a strong concept. Parents appreciate that their children can learn while playing this game and having fun." Didakto is also used by therapists to help children with autism to improve their language and logic skills.
Didakto is a big success in Synendo's home country The Netherlands, the app is currently number 1 in Education and number 3 in the Top Paid iPad Apps of the iTunes App Store. "Didakto supports six languages, I hope this promotion helps people in other countries to discover this educational game" says Marco Henkes.
